A top celeb-inspired look this spring is the “sh-bob,” rocked so well by January Jones.

“It’s a fresh twist on the lob, but has more texture and style versatility, incorporating elements of the shag haircut — hence — the sh-bob!” said Alexandra Goresh of Stilisti in Boston. A lot like spring weather, this stylish ‘do can’t quite make up its mind. “It can be styled straight, curly or wavy depending on your hair texture and mood that day, and it can even be a great segue to a shorter shape if you’re nervous to take the plunge into a pixie. It also leaves enough length if you need to pull your hair back.”

(We’d maybe try that with the help of a headband and a few Bobbi pins!)

Miranda Kerr

Spring is the perfect time to try Miranda Kerr’s new chop. This textured, chin-length bob can help you transition into spring after a long winter — it sheds the length and will have you feeling fresh for the season.

“To get the look, spray hair with texturizing spray and curl hair away from the face using a 1-inch curling iron. Once whole head is curled, spray with a flexible-hold hairspray and gently run fingers through curls for a textured and effortless look,” said Nick Penna, owner and lead stylist of award-winning SalonCapri in Boston.

J.Lo has embraced her naturally curly and wavy hair for her role in “Shades of Blue” — and it looks spectacular!

“This would look good on women with curly hair who want to achieve an all-natural, fresh look. Ask for short layers and texture,” said hair expert and founder of HydroHair, Jeorge Napoleon. “It’s good for spring because it’s a fresh out-the-door look.”

Try Kerry Washington’s edgier take on the lob, with piece-y texture and side-swept bangs, to upgrade your look for the new season. “Cut it just above the shoulder and [keep it] textured throughout. The asymmetrical length and bangs nicely frame her face and refresh her look,” said Penna.

“Spring is a time of renewal, so why not chop off a few inches and try a cut that is fresh and a cinch to style? Plus, I love the laid-back, yet refined vibe of this cut,” said celebrity hairstylist Scott Yance, owner of Scottfree Salon in Milwaukee. The goal here is to have the hair just graze the shoulders and use layering techniques for volume and movement.

And make sure your stylist gives you a quick styling tutorial, Yance suggested, so you can learn all the cool ways to wear this look — from tousled waves to straight and shiny.

Another great example of the lob is on model Rosie Huntington-Whiteley. Pierre Michel Salon style director, Jerome Lordet, said: “The lob is still hot for spring. It’s easy to wear wavy or straight and it’s a very versatile and light look that always feels very stylish. This lob is even long enough to put up.”

“Ask your hairdresser to cut off your hair so it rests on the collarbone with broken layers at the bottom to create the perfect lob,” Lordet explained.

Chrissy Teigen

Chrissy Teigen perfectly nailed a mix of the two above! As Teigen put it herself, she “asked for the Khloe-Rosie” and celebrity hairstylist Jen Atkin “knew exactly” what she meant.

New York-based celebrity hairstylist, Fabio Scalia, thinks this cut is great because the longer pieces in the front of the bob extend the chin, which makes the face look longer and leaner.

“It creates volume on top which gives more roundness from the forehead to the chin to help complete the oval shape. However, they should have added some more of what I call translucent layers, they are thin layers you can’t see that fill in the parts of the face that look a bit long, which lifts the shape a bit,” said Scalia.

Julianne Hough

The shag is back! “I love this look,” said Scalia. This cut is great for women with a round, square or heart shape face because it elongates the face shape, he explained. It also has a lot of versatility: You can put it half-up, leave some strands loose or put it all up — it gives you a lot to work with!

Mrs. Tatum is rocking sexy chopped layers with the “no-brush, no-comb” look. It’s a short, wash-and-go style that any mom can appreciate.

This would look good on oval face shapes, someone with great texture and highlights to surround the face. Ask for angled ends and naturally tousled waves.

“This look is good for spring because its all-natural, easy and cool around the neck,” said Napoleon.

“Jennifer Lawrence is rocking awesome piece-y layered version of this look,” Gina Capano of the Luxebar added.

This sleek and professional ‘do is a snap to maintain, especially on humid days when long hair is simply too much work. So, how do you ask for it?

As your stylist to “cut weight from the back, then do a graduated cut up from the nape of the neck. Lastly, do a round layer around [the head] that falls slightly above the graduation,” said Scalia. “You can use a product with grip, or if you hair is thinner, use a lighter sculpting cream to style the hair back.”

Olivia Palermo

One haircut we are seeing a lot of this spring is a blunt, razor-edge cut. Seen here on Olivia Palermo, it’s finished with a sleek center part with undone texture.

“It’s the perfect combination of luxe style with a laid-back feel,” said Stephanie Belfi, a stylist at De La Mer in Bellmore, New York. “Get the look by cutting hair to one length with a razor. Be sure to remove weight vertically to create movement and interest. Finish the look by applying sculpting cream for matte texture and then rough dry hair while twisting sections.”

And once it’s dry, create that perfectly undone texture by curling sections with a 1-inch barreled curling iron. Be sure to leave out the very ends of the hair to keep it from looking too “done,” Belfi advised. Finish off with smooth style serum or a dry texture spray.

Jessica Alba

“Her hair is so beautifully cut that she is able to wash-and-go while on the run with her kids,” said Napolean.

“This would look good on all face shapes and hair colors. Ask for a cut that graduates from longer to shorter at the back and longer around the jaw. It’s good for spring because it’s not taking that big of a step from a long to short cut; Its right there in the middle and can take you right into spring with some body and healthy ends,” said Napoleon.

Shailene Woodley

This beautiful, short-crop style is carefree, yet polished.

“The hair is styled with a flat brush or fingers for a quick finish or a round brush for some evening glamour,” said Edward R. Blum, creative director of Makeovers Salon + Spa in Massachusetts, who cautioned from “fussing too much” with the style.

Finish the look off with little pomade to tame the ends closer to the head, he added.

Gigi Hadid

The top model rocked long hair with a loose, polished wave at the Daily Front Row Fashion Awards. Why is this perfect for spring? Humidity hasn’t hit yet, so you can leave your long hair down and style it loosely without a care.

“The new wave is much looser and has softer movement than beach waves of the past. They are created by making indentations in the hair with the barrel of a curling iron in an S-shape pattern,” said Amy Abramite, creative director at Maxine Salon in Chicago. “Simply wrap the hair halfway around the barrel in one direction, and then again in the opposite direction.”
